The Modern Languages Council (MLC) is a professional association of curriculum leaders representing Catholic and Public district school boards from across the province. Our mission is to provide leadership in French as a Second Language (FSL), International and Classical Language education and to provide equity and excellence in the delivery, assessment and evaluation of the language programs that we represent.
The MLC will meet 5 times during the school year to address pertinent issues, share information and resources, promote and provide networking and professional development to its members in order to implement Ministry policies. Examples of the Council’s work includes the review and implementation of Ministry initiatives in the areas of FSL, International and Classical Language curricula in Ontario and the distribution of current and relevant documents.
We are confident that curriculum leaders responsible for modern languages will find this a unique and worthwhile association. It is through the collective expertise of the MLC members that we are able to continue to support teachers and students.
Topics scheduled for discussion include the sharing of strategies and resources for the implementation of the revised French as a Second Language and International Languages curricula, A Framework for French as a Second Language in Ontario Schools, Kindergarten to Grade 12 as well as the development and implementation of the district school board’s action plan, CEFR, Curriculum Services Canada materials, Growing Success, and the Official Languages in Education Action Plan.
